Since Goth: the Degeneration was first written, many of you have contacted us with suggestions for other classes of goth character which you would like to play. This supplement introduces six new types of character, with their descriptions, special skills and advantages and disadvantages. We hope it will help to broaden the scope of your games and add to the fun of playing.
Geek Goths
The Geek Goth clan includes many goths who find themselves shunned by other parts of the gothic community due to their interest in the technical. Some netgoths find themselves in this clan, though netgoths can also belong to other clans. This is primarily for those more interested in their particular hobbies than in human (or goth) communication. A subset of Geek Goths are Gamer Goths, who enjoy role-playing or trading card games to such an extent that their lifestyle is considered by others to be peculiar.
Geek Goths must have a minimum of twelve points in Liver, because of the amount of caffeine they consume. They receive ten points in Quote, old television series a speciality, and three points in Use Windows 95. They have the disadvantage of accidentally boring other goths with their conversations, especially when more than one of them is present, and receive a minus ten to all Style based rolls in this situation.
NotAGoths
NotAGoths are those people who, despite wearing the clothes, listening to the music, reading the books, watching the films and participating in every other conceivable aspect of gothic culture, still protest that they are not really goths at all. Many famous people subscribe to the logic of this clan.
NotAGoths must have a minimum of twelve points in Dexterity, in order to dodge and run away from other goths whom their attitude annoys. They receive ten points in Make Excuse and ten points in Bored, so as to be able to give a constant impression of disinterest in their gothic environment. They have the disadvantage of persistently being 'mistaken' for goths by other people, and receive a minus ten to all Cool based rolls when this happens.
Old Goths
Old Goths are those who were listening to Bauhaus before you were born (quite probably before Bauhaus were born) and know everything there is to know about gothic history, while refusing to dance to anything released after 1982. They have a large network of connections, often including big names on the scene, but spend most of their time sitting in corners at clubs and pubs drinking heavily and complaining about how it's not like it used to be. It should be noted that Old Goths can actually be as young as twenty, having found their place in the hierarchy by other means, and that not all goths over a certain age fit into the Old Goth category.
Old goths must have a minimum of twelve points in Strength, and they'll be having words with you if you have the cheek to imply otherwise. They receive ten points in Music Lore and ten points in Bitch. They have the disadvantage of being frequently drunk, which gives them a minus ten in all Brains based rolls when they have just come out of the bar.
Pagan Goths
This clan is for those people whose gothic nature has its roots in their Pagan beliefs. Pagan Goths often connect themselves with witchcraft, and dress appropriately. They are far more likely to be involved in mysticism than are other kinds of goth.
Pagan Goths must have a minimum of twelve points in Cool because of the amount of hassle they have to deal with from other people on account of their lifestyle. They receive ten points in Occult Lore and ten points to distribute as they will among artistic skills. They have the disadvantage of wearing long floaty clothes, giving them a minus ten to all Dexterity based rolls when required to move fast.
Tart Goths
Tart Goths are those goths for whom flirting is of the utmost importance in any given situation, even when there is nobody present whom the Tart Goth actually finds attractive. Tart Goths are not necessarily promiscuous, but thrive on attention and will often participate in such activities as snogging competitions. A subclass of the Tart Goth is the Slut Goth, who behaves in a similar manner but does so passively rather than actively, focusing on posing.
Tart Goths must have a minimum of twelve in Brains, in order to get away with their behaviour. They receive ten points in Seduce and ten points in Two-time. They have the disadvantage of frequently being pursued by bitter exes and the jealous partners of their conquests, and receive a minus ten to all Liver based rolls whilst panicking, over-emotional or broken hearted.
Vampire Goths
Vampire goths come in two distinct types: those who believe that vampires exist (or even that they are vampires), and those who don't believe vampires exist but like all the dressing up and the books and the films anyway. These goths have a tendancy to dress very finely in corsets, frilly shirts and velvet, often with cloaks. Many of them wear fake fangs or have their own teeth adapted to make them more fang-like.
Vampire goths must have a minimum of twelve in Style in order to maintain the correct appearance. They receive ten points in Bite, for obvious reasons, and ten points in Book Lore where it relates to vampire or classical gothic literature. They have the disadvantage of not being able to go outdoors in sunlight without fully covering themselves up (including shades). When attempting to do so, they receive a minus ten to all Strength based rolls.
